CDP B-UPR Pro 1108
Protection for the valued information goes further more than backups, systems against intrusions or defense against electronically identity theft. Data security starts on the most elemental part of the system; the electrical supply.
Josué Canales
The B-UPR-1108 of Chicago Digital Power is an interrupted power supply system of 1,100 VA and the most outstanding feature is its compact design (35.3 x 13.8 x 16.2 cm). It includes 8 receptacles of NEMA current 1-15, four of which have battery backup and the other four only with spikes and power surge protection.
Diferent Indicators
A very important point to consider is that the contacts that do not have backup are of blue color, this would help the user not to connect by error laser printers or other high energy office equipment.
In the front it has two LCD indicators, the first one, situated on the left side, indicates the battery level, where three green LEDs indicate the highest level, and the red LED shows the warning to recharge. On the opposite side there is another set of LED lights, which go from green to red indicating the level of energy that the UPS is supporting.
The difference between other products of this class and the B-UPR Pro 1108, is that it does not include indicators that would let you know the operating status of the equipment and the conditions of the commercial electrical line.
A very interesting characteristic from this model is that it has an electrical charge sensor, and whenever it does not detect a power demand from any of the equipment connected to the UPS, it would go to sleep mode, which you would be able to tell by the blue light that illuminates the logo in front of the panel.
Also, when the PC or any other systems is connected, the UPS would go back to its normal operating stage. It also includes a serial port for software monitoring.
Proven effectiveness
During the testing period of this product a PC was connected with a monitor CRT of 17 inches. With the PC operating at a normally (surfing the internet, editing text fles) the power cable was disconnected to test the back up time of the B-UPR Pro 1108 with its fully charged battery.
The audible alarm of the sistem started beeping instantly right ofter the electrical power interruption and the beeping sound was constant every eight second, accompanied by a bright red indicator by the start button. At this point only two of the green LED indicators were kept on.
Approximately around the 24th minute of operation only one LED battery indicator was on. The beeping sound changed its frequency at one beep per second around the 39th minute from the time the test of the battery started. The right LED (for low battery) blinked at the same frecuency for exactly one minute. At the 40th minute the sound changed to a constant beep and the power energy that it was supplying the PC was interrupted.
